ABOUT US
Lab Girls Training Center, LLC, founded by Helena Simms, has been servicing the metropolitan region since 2020. Lab Girls provides phlebotomy training to individuals who want to enhance their skills or pursue employment. Community needs and resources determine the program objectives and procedures. Our mission is to assist community development by identifying and preparing demographic groups such as at-risk youth, displaced workers, and single parents for long-term, sustainable employment. We deeply value diversity, integrity, respect, transparency, service, sustainability, and excellence.
OVERVIEW
In our program, you will learn the daily tasks of a phlebotomist. This includes collecting blood samples, labeling and storing blood while following standard procedures and ensuring patients safety. Our hands-on training provides students with at least 48 hours of practical experience. Students will learn the importance of venipuncture and capillary punctures using the correct procedures. Basic anatomy of the bodily systems and terminology are required to link general pathological disorders to relevant clinical laboratory fields. You will learn to recognize the significance of specimen collection in comprehensive patient care. You will also demonstrate knowledge of collection equipment, anticoagulant types, particular precautions required, and chemicals that may interfere with clinical blood component analysis.
